So the accumulative effect of Chemo and Radiation can really knock you on your ass. That said I only took one "Cancer Nap" at the office this week, so I am feeling particularly proud of myself. Honestly, I told my boss to expect some naps from me this week so the fact that there was only one nap is a point of pride.
That said, I did hit the wall early most nights. I was planning on writing a blog post last night right after a quick nap, but what was suppose to be 30 minutes turned into about 3 hours. After a midnight shower I went back to bed. Turns out I needed some rest this week.
Turns out we all need rest. A good glass of wine, a favorite book, an episode of The Office, whatever it is we need to take time to just sit and rest. Taking some time to fully disconnect and recharge the batteries. A well rested self is better for all the people around us. Rest and self care is not just for us, but also for those that are around us and those we love. A well rested Josh is a better husband and father.
So here is your assignment. Get some rest this weekend. Even if it is 30 minutes listening to your favorite album, or watching a favorite movie, take some time to slow down and recharge. Your weekend and following week will be better for it.
